Colorado Kenpo teaches the art of American Kenpo Karate as developed by Senior Grand Master Ed
Parker, 10th degree Black Belt, and creator of the system as we know it today.
Unlike many other sports or exercise programs, Kenpo Karate is for everyone. Men,
women, teens and children of all ages can learn and benefit from our program. Classes are scaled to individual needs and include personal instruction and encouragement. No
student is over-exerted or under-challenged. |
 |
An introductory lesson gets the student acquainted with the stances, blocks,
strikes, kicks and self-defense techniques contained within Kenpo Karate. All instruction is
presented at an individual’s own pace. Repetition is an important aspect of learning the
proper form and getting the “feel” of the movement. Control is developed by doing self-
defense techniques with another student. An introduction to kicking and striking equipment
is included when knowledge and performance of the movement is adequate.
At this point the student is ready to begin White Belt classes. New students are placed in small
classes with other beginners. Class by class, new students learn and practice sets of
movements designed to provide self-defense knowledge, enhance speed, balance,
coordination and reactions. Also, class exercises will increase strength, stamina, agility,
flexibility and body tone.
|
 |
Knowledge of self-defense is taught showing the application of the movements. Controlled
movements are practiced with a partner. Power, accuracy and effectiveness are
practiced using different types of equipment, including large targets and small hand-held
targets. As the student progresses they will be tested when ready to move on to new skills
and techniques. The proficiency in Kenpo Karate will be reflected by the color of the belt
being worn.
The training received at Colorado Kenpo Karate
can be beneficial in many ways including improved confidence, fitness, stamina and more. Please contact us via email or at 303-280-8180 with any questions and begin your journey. |
